COVID-19 Safety at La Jolla Playhouse

The Playhouse commits to following COVID-19 guidelines and strategies provided by UC San Diego, San Diego County, California Department of Public Health, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The Playhouse works very closely with UC San Diego to regarding COVID-19 safety on campus, including participating in the university’s health building practices.
For performances of The Garden, La Jolla Playhouse requires proof of full COVID-19 vaccination (Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson) or a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 48 hours of your performance, and that masks be worn for all patrons inside the theatres and indoor spaces including the lobbies and restrooms. Drinks and concessions must be enjoyed outdoors and will not be permitted in the theatre.
HOOPLA! POP Tour Reading on September 14: This is an outdoor, open-air event for children and families. Masks are required for all attendees 2 years and up. Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 48 hours of the reading is required for all attendees 12 years and up.
Innovation Night on September 27: This is an outdoor, open-air event. Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken within 48 hours of event is required for all attendees. Guests will be notified on mask policy one week prior to the event.
Prior to entering the performance or event space, all guests 12 years and up must show proof of full vaccination, along with photo ID. You may present your physical vaccination card, a photo of your vaccination card or QR code from State of California’s Digital COVID-19 Vaccine Record or medical provider. Acceptable proof of a negative PCR test include test results with date or QR code from provider. All artists, staff and volunteers will be fully vaccinated and Playhouse staff and volunteers will be wearing masks. Masks are also required on the shuttles from and to the Osler Parking Structure.
When you enter the parking shuttle and La Jolla Playhouse building/theatres, you are self-attesting that your answer is “no” to the following questions:
If at any time prior to your performance, you are not feeling well, are unable to meet our vaccination and/or mask policy, or feel uncomfortable attending, we are happy to assist you with a return or date exchange when available. The vaccine requirement will be in effect for all performances through December 31, 2021. We will evaluate our mask policy for to the yellow house based on the situation closer to performances in November. Recognizing that theatre safety protocols are evolving in real time, we will share the safety protocols applicable to performances and events after December 31, 2021 at a later time. This will ensure we are utilizing the most current directives from official agencies to ensure the safety and enjoyment of our patrons.
