A La Jolla Playhouse WOW Experience

Introducing The Unfair Advantage. Australia’s leading sleight of hand specialist Harry Milas lifts the veil on the world of card cheating in an intimate and unprecedented theatrical event.

During this hour-long experience, Harry will reveal the secrets behind the skill that saw him become a security weapon for the world’s top casinos. Join Harry in an audience of just 35 people as he reveals – step by step – how magicians, card cheaters and mentalists fool the world. Expect part performance, part tutorial as Harry exposes many of the best tricks and illusions he knows. He’ll start you off easy, but as the show goes on, greater displays of card play unfold and exciting secrets are uncovered…

Before participating, you will be asked to sign a legal contract of confidentiality. Please bear this in mind when electing to take part. Audiences will meet their host at the Potiker Box Office at La Jolla Playhouse, and be escorted to a secret location to sign the contract and commence the experience.

A WOW Experience

Without Walls (WOW) is La Jolla Playhouse’s signature performance program that takes art outside traditional theatre walls and into unique spaces, including the annual WOW Festival and WOW stand-alone productions. Read more about WOW here.

Single tickets are now on sale. La Jolla Playhouse is the only authorized ticket seller for this production.

Designed to the exact specifications of Harry Milas, The Unfair Advantage deck features a custom slipcase and superior quality cards that glide smoother, shuffle easier and last longer with an airflow finish at casino standards. ‘First Look’ performances are the first week of each show before opening night. These lower-priced tickets allow you to experience the show while the creative team continues polishing and making changes.

Content Guidance
All audience members will be required to sign a confidentiality contract before this experience, so please take that into account prior to purchasing tickets. Audiences 12 years and older are welcome, but note that The Unfair Advantage addresses card cheating. The legal age for gambling in California ranges from 18 to 21. Useful Information

Duration
Approx 60 minutes with no intermission. Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the performance time and give yourself time to stay afterwards as Harry will offer you the opportunity to stay at the table and ask questions after the show.

Late Arrivals
Latecomers are not permitted due to the intimate nature of this work. If you arrive later than 5 minutes past your scheduled performance time, we will rebook you subject to availability.

Parking
UC San Diego operates the Theatre District Parking Structure and requires a valid parking pass to be displayed at all times. La Jolla Playhouse Subscribers should use their physical parking permits displayed on their driver’s side dashboard. Ticket buyers can pay for parking on-site with the pay stations located on each floor of the structure or digitally with the ParkMobile app. Find all parking information here.

Health and Safety

Harry Milas Creator and Performer

Harry Milas is Australia's leading sleight of hand artist and magician, based in Sydney. His signature close up show THE UNFAIR ADVANTAGE won the award for Best Magic and garnered five-star reviews at The Adelaide Fringe, the largest arts festival in the southern hemisphere and has been in residence at the Sydney Harbour Bridge Pylon since the beginning of 2023. He regularly combines his work in magic and theatre as both a performer (Bondi Festival seance, Red-Line Productions Cascadia) and consultant having created the magic for Belvoir’s Master and the Margarita and Red Line Production’s Just! His TV appearances are extensive and include the Today Show, Channel 10, ABC and The Disney Channel.
