ABOUT PLAYHOUSE TEEN COUNCIL:
Playhouse Teen Council (PTC) is an advocacy and advisory group for creative and dynamic high school students from all over San Diego County who demonstrate strong leadership qualities and a passion for theatre. The purpose of PTC is to foster the next generation of theatre leaders and professionals through cultivated educational and interactive experiences with La Jolla Playhouse.
La Jolla Playhouse strongly believes in uplifting the youth voices of our diverse San Diego community. PTC provides a welcoming and inclusive space where teenagers of all backgrounds, including, but certainly not limited to all ethnicities, genders, sexualities, gender expressions, and all economic backgrounds, can join us in our work.
PTC members will learn the inner workings of a nonprofit professional theatre, attract young audiences and positively contribute to our community’s theatre culture. PTC has the opportunity to meet the artists and experts who bring La Jolla Playhouse’s shows to its audiences. Members will participate in seminars, complete projects, attend LJP shows, workshops, talkbacks and learn about the artistic vision of the Playhouse. They also plan and host events throughout the year that celebrate the Playhouse’s offerings as well as each member’s love of theatre. Each event brings young people to the Playhouse, building on the strong following for challenging live theatre that exists in San Diego.
