Arturo Luíz SoriaArturo Luíz Soria, Playwright
Arturo Luíz Soria is an Obie Award winning actor and playwright. His one-(wo)man show, Ni Mi Madre, premiered at Rattlestick Theater in the summer of 2021. It was a NY Times Critic’s Pick and was nominated for a Drama Desk Award, Outer Circle Critics Award, a Drama League Award, and won an Obie Award for Best Performance. It recently had its European premiere at the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. He currently has three projects in the works: a new solo show, Sin Padre, commissioned by Rattlestick Theatre through a NYSCA grant; a screen adaptation of the novel Bodega Dreams for Black Bar Mitzvah Productions and Votiv Films, slated to be directed by Ángel Manuel Soto; and a new play, La Kasa Mita’echo, commissioned by the Lucille Lortel Theatre’s Alcove New Play Development Program. As an actor, Arturo’s work in the theatre has been extensive. He made his Broadway debut in The Inheritance, which won the Tony Award for Best Play. He was also in the World Premiere of Hit the Wall at Barrow Street Theatre, and most recently, the World Premiere of Wet Brain at Playwrights Horizons. He has worked regionally at The Guthrie Theatre, Yale Rep, St. Louis Rep, Milwaukee Rep, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, The Dallas Center, Steppenwolf Theatre, Victory Gardens Theatre, and many more. Arturo holds an MFA from Yale School of Drama; a BFA from The Theatre School at DePaul University; and was part of the inaugural class at Lena Waithe’s Hillman Grad TV Writing Mentorship Program.

Danilo Gambini is a director and producer originally from São Paulo. Recent: A Case for the Existence of God by Samuel D. Dr. Nahuel Telleria is Assistant Professor of Dramaturgy at The University of Oklahoma; he teaches coursework in dramaturgy, playwriting, and dramatic theory, and conducts research on Latinx American theater. Julián Flores, making his LJP Latinx New Play Festival debut, is an actor from Tijuana with a BA in theatre arts from the University of San Diego where he performed in shows such as Anon(ymous) and The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime portraying Anon and Ed in them respectively. His latest performance was in The Old Globe’s CoLAB piece Los Alebrijes for Day of the Dead. Andrew RincónAndrew Rincón, Playwright
Andrew Rincón (he/she/they) is a Queer Colombian-American playwright, screenwriter, and world builder. Their work blends fantasy, modern Latine mythology and Queer fabulation.
Their plays have been developed with The Latinx Playwrights Circle, The Austin Latino New Play Festival, The Amoralists Theatre Company, Pork Filled Productions (Seattle), Out Front Productions (Atlanta). Andrew was a member of INKtank Lab for Playwrights of Color (2017), 2017 Fornés Playwriting Workshop (Chicago). He is winner of the 2018 Chesley/Bumbalo Grant for writers of Gay and Lesbian Theatre and New Light Theatre Project’s New Light New Voices Award (2019). Dramatist Guild Foundation Fellow (19-20), MacDowell Fellow (Winter 2020). Skidmore College’s Visiting Playwright in Residence (21-22). Finalist in LGBTQ Drama for the 36th Lambda Literary Awards 2024. Select Plays include The Lonely, El Mito or The Myth of my Pain. The Leopard Women. Danniel Ureña (he/him) is a San Diego-based director, choreographer, and producer whose work explores the intersection of queerness, first-generation identity, and Latinidad in America. Raised at the crossroads of tradition and creating individuality, he celebrates his history while defining the future. He has worked in theaters across San Diego including San Diego REP (Latinx New Play Festival Intern), La Jolla Playhouse (Artistic Intern, Latinx New Play Festival Associate Producer, Learning and Engagement Coordinator), and Diversionary (Artistic Fellow). Adrian Trujillo Centeno is a Los Angeles-based dramaturg. He’s developed new works at South Coast Repertory, San Diego Repertory Theatre, Cleveland Play House, and New York Stage & Film, among others. He’s served on grant panels and selection committees for the National Endowment for the Arts, The Public Theatre, Signature Theatre, The Playwrights’ Center, and the Latinx New Play Festival. Adrian is currently an affiliate dramaturg at Beehive Dramaturgy Studio (NYC), and holds dual roles as Assistant Professor of Theatre Studies at Cal State Long Beach and Artistic Director of Seven Devils New Play Foundry. She re-entered the theatre world in 2022 after a 10 year hiatus in which she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy and began her career as a Music Therapist, specializing in the use of music to support children with disabilities. Some of her notable roles in San Diego include Kelly in The Mad Ones, Mimi and Joanne in Rent (Wildsong Productions); Marie/Guitar in TL;DR: Thelma Louise; Dyke Remix (Diversionary Theatre); and Alyssa in The Prom (SDMT). She is an advocate for inclusivity, diversity, and access for all in theatre and the arts. She is thrilled to be a part of the LNPF team and is excited to bring these stories to life on stage. Lori Felipe-BarinLori Felipe-Barin, Playwright
Lori Felipe-Barkin is an English-Spanish playwright, performer and voice over artist based out of Miami and NYC. Most recently, her short play, The Peepholeman, premiered at BAM as part of the 2024 Weasel Festival. Her three-act play, Flor Underwater, was selected for the 2020 Play Penn New Play Conference, received an Honorable Mention for the 2021 Terrence McNally Award, and was a finalist for the 2023 Risk Theatre Award, the 2023 Austin Film Festival Playwriting Competition, and the 2024 Royer Award. She has had play readings at Playwrights Horizons, INTAR Theatre, and Iati Theater. She holds an MFA in playwriting from Brooklyn College.

Ludmila de Brito is a Brazilian artist dedicated to creating theatre rooted in ritual and mischief. Jazmine Simone LoganJazmine Simone Logan, Dramaturg
Jazmine Simone Logan is a fifth year PhD candidate in the Department of Theater and Dance with a BA in Theater Arts and Politics from University of California, Santa Cruz and a MA in Theater Arts from San Francisco State University. As a performance studies scholar and practitioner, Jazmine’s research focus deals with the intersection of dramaturgy, West African performance and cosmology, black identity, and black performance theory. She has dramaturged for several productions in the San Diego community such as La Jolla Playhouse’s POP Tour, San Diego’s Latinx New Play Festival, and UCSD’s Department of Theatre and Dance’s Wagner New Play Festival. Leonardo Romero (he/him) is an emerging Mexican American actor from Southern California. An alumnus of the National Theatre Institute, he was honored as a recipient of the Lin-Manuel Miranda Family Fellowship. Recent stage credits include Dad, Are You There? (Eugene O’Neill Theater Center), La Havana Madrid (New Village Arts), and All The Men Who’ve Frightened Me (La Jolla Playhouse).

Mario VegaMario Vega, Playwright
Mario Vega is a playwright/lyricist/digital artist from Southern California. He is a graduate from San Diego State University and is currently obtaining his MFA in playwriting at UCLA. He has written the book and lyrics to four full length musicals on top of multiple plays. His work explores Latine identity and the borderlands through the lenses of satire and fantasy.

Dr. Maria Patrice AmonPatrice Amon, Director
Dr. Maria Patrice Amon is a director, producer, and scholar. Maria Patrice has directed in San Diego and across the US. Maria Patrice was an Associate Artistic Director and Latinx Producer at San Diego Repertory Theatre where she launched the Latinx New Play Festival at San Diego Repertory Theatre, produces a staged reading series, offers networking events with the Amigos del Rep general body, and produces special community engagement events that are based on current events and social needs. Additionally, Maria Patrice is a co-founder and co-Artistic Director of TuYo Theatre, a professional Latinx theatre in San Diego. She was a National Directing Fellow through NNPN and the O’Neill Theatre Center, a LTC Steering Committee member, and a board member for NNPN. Maria Patrice has a PhD in Drama from University of California, Irvine with emphasis in Critical Theory and Chicano Studies, Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law.
