La Jolla Playhouse and NBC San Diego recently teamed up for an amazing contest in conjunction with NBC’s hit show “SMASH!” Nine local singers recorded a performance of "Let Me Be Your Star," by the “Smash” songwriting team of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman and the videos were hosted on the NBC San Diego Facebook page, where the public could vote for their favorite performer. The winner will perform at the Playhouse’s starry Gala on March 9 and win a trip to New York City to see a “smash” Broadway show. La Jolla Playhouse’s 2012 Gala will feature a sumptuous “supper club” atmosphere inside the Sheila and Hughes Potiker Theatre, featuring multi-level platforms and custom banquettes. Guests will be dazzled by high-end cuisine and beverages, as well as music to dance the night away.

Golden Globe winner and Tony Award nominee Peter Gallagher headlines the La Jolla Playhouse Supper Club on March 9! Audiences will recognize the heartthrob actor/singer from acclaimed films such as American Beauty, The Player and While You Were Sleeping and from television’s Covert Affairs, Rescue Me and The OC.
His theatre credits include award winning Broadway productions of Guys and Dolls, Long Day’s Journey Into Night, Noises Off and The Country Girl. As a singer, Peter performs live all over the country with his solo show, “Songs and Stories.”
