Access at WOW Festival

WOW Festival takes place at La Jolla Playhouse and venues around UC San Diego. If you have access, special requirements, or any questions about Access at WOW Festival please contact Patron Services and we will do our very best to assist.

If you have a Disabled Person (DP) placard or license plates, you can park in these spaces without a UC San Diego parking permit:

  • Handicap-accessible spaces designated by the wheelchair symbol, found in every UC San Diego parking lot
  • Metered spaces (no fee required)
  • Spaces marked S, B or A (see below for exception)

Disabled Person placard or plates alone are not valid in:

  • Spaces posted “A Permit required 7 days a week/ 24 hours a day”
  • Spaces marked “Reserved”
  • Areas painted with crosshatching or marked “No Parking”
  • Areas that are not designated parking spaces
  • Red curb, fire lane or yellow commercial zones (unless license plate allows)
  • Timed loading zones, beyond the specified time

Other venues

  • Che Cafe is located on a hill. The building is surrounded by some uneven ground and has narrow hallways. There is a drop off location outside.
  • The Design and Innovation Building has an elevator to access different floors. The closest vehicle drop off locations are at the cul-de-sac where Russell Lane meets Rupertus Lane, and by the UC San Diego Central Campus Blue Line Trolley Stop off of Innovation Lane. 
  • Galbraith Hall Lawn is grass and the ground has some incline and may be uneven in some areas. Some pathways leading to this lawn have some uneven ground. The closest vehicle drop off for Galbraith Hall Lawn is at the La Jolla Playhouse drop off location on Revelle College Drive, about 0.1 miles from Galbraith Hall Lawn. 
  • Revelle Plaza is a large, fairly flat concrete surface. There are some stairs and ramps leading to the plaza. The closest vehicle drop off for Revelle Plaza is at the La Jolla Playhouse drop off location on Revelle College Drive, about 0.2 miles from Revelle Plaza.

Uneven Ground
Some events take place on or move over uneven ground, including: 59 Acres, Pásale Pásale, iykyk and Apple Ave Detective Agency. If you would like more information, please see the ‘Patron Notes’ section on individual event pages or contact Patron Services on [email protected] or (858) 550-1010. 

Shuttle Buses
Free shuttle buses will be running throughout WOW Festival to move people from one zone to another. Shuttles arrive approximately every 15 minutes. The Shuttle takes 10-12 mins from La Jolla Playhouse to the Epstein Family Amphitheater. Please see the WOW Festival Map or WOW Festival Google Map for shuttle stops, or ask a member of staff. 

Golf Cart Service
To register your interest and needs for golf cart service during WOW Festival between venues, please contact Patron Services on [email protected] or (858) 550-1010.

For patrons who are blind or have low vision, the Playhouse is happy to partner with you to successfully navigate and enjoy WOW Festival.  Please contact Patron Services on [email protected] or (858) 550-1010 and we will do our very best to assist.

Service animals trained to perform specific tasks are welcomed at UC San Diego in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Per ADA, service animals are dogs or miniature horses individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability. UC San Diego campus does not permit other animals.

Several WOW Festival events take place outside and all these events specify ‘Outdoor’ on their individual event pages. Patrons with sensory sensitivities may enjoy these events that take place in spacious areas and are easy to take a break from.
