Downstream (tributaries) by BANDALOOP
BANDALOOP’s Downstream (tributaries) is a set of excerpts from Downstream, a new vertical dance work premiering in entirety in the Russian River Watershed at the Green Music Center in Rohnert Park, CA, April 19th 2024. Directed by Melecio Estrella, Downstream’s dances are a confluence of personal and shared waterways. In a process that mixes the gravitational variance of vertical dance, ecological watershed education and research, and personal reflection, Downstream brings forward a tender, embodied inquiry to our relationship with water, land and one another. Built amidst a time of profound personal and collective grief, Downstream honors the grace found in sharing stories of flow, saturation, flooding and restoration. Performed here at the WOW Festival for the Los Peñasquitos Watershed and its inhabitants.

An innovator of vertical dance, BANDALOOP seamlessly weaves dynamic physicality, intricate choreography and the art of climbing to turn the dance floor on its side. Since 1991 BANDALOOP’s indoor & outdoor work has been presented in theaters and museums, on skyscrapers, bridges, billboards and historical sites, in atriums and convention halls, in nature on cliffs, and on screen. BANDALOOP honors nature, community and the human spirit by bringing dance to new audiences, activating public and natural spaces, and re-imagining what’s possible.
